MAC: Investigation Bureau takes on case of former MAC official
Investigation Bureau takes on case of former MAC official

An inquiry into the work performance of former Deputy Minister of the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC), Hsien-yao Chang, has been transferred to the Investigation Bureau under the Ministry of Justice. That’s the word from MAC Deputy Minister Wu Mei-hung on Tuesday.

Chang was removed from his post last week amid speculation of “suspicions” over his work performance.

On Tuesday, Wu confirmed that Chang was involved in issues concerning national security.

"The Investigation Bureau has gathered some information," said Wu.

"After negotiations, we decided to transfer the case to the Investigation Bureau since part of former MAC Deputy Minister Chang’s work involved national security. The MAC will support the investigation."

Wu said the Investigation Bureau will make its inquiry report public once the investigation is completed.

She also said normal cross-strait talks will not be affected by Chang’s case.
