A delegation representing a number of Taiwanese businesses is in Indonesia exploring investment opportunities in the country.

According to Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry, the Taiwanese businesses are interested in Indonesia’s solar energy, electronics, and petrochemical industries.

The delegation, which arrived in Indonesia on Tuesday, has met with Indonesia’s deputy industry minister Alex Retraubun.

Retraubun said that the total amount of investment is still unclear as talks between the Indonesian government and Taiwanese investors are still in their early stages. However, he said he is optimistic that at least one Taiwanese company will implement its investment plan within the year.

Retraubun said he believes that Taiwanese businesses may decide to invest in Cirebon, a city in Western Java near Indonesia’s industrial and technological heartland.
