The education ministry is simplifying the process for recognizing overseas diplomas. That’s in an effort to make Taiwan’s universities more global and welcoming to international students.
An education ministry official said that in the past, overseas diplomas had to be certified by Taiwan’s representative offices in the applicant’s respective country. Now it allows universities to discern on their own whether the diplomas are genuine. They may call the university, ask representative offices for help, or ask applicants to provide certification.
The ministry has also cancelled former requirements such as requiring report cards. Details about the new requirements are available on the education ministry website.
