Survey: Fathers in Taiwan spend 69 minutes a day with children
Happy Father's Day!

Friday is Father’s Day in Taiwan. An Internet survey shows that most fathers in Taiwan are busy working overtime and only spend about an hour a day (69 minutes) with their children.

A survey of nearly 600 working fathers by website Yes123 shows that fathers work an average of 10 hours a day. Sixty percent said they often work overtime. The average father works overtime 3.6 days a week. One third of the dads surveyed say they don’t even have one full day of rest all year long.

But this doesn’t mean that they’re making a high income. The survey shows that the fathers have not had a salary increase in 2.35 years, and 80% say their income is not enough. They said that two-thirds of their income goes to cover their family’s needs, and 40% say they don’t have any pocket money.

As for Father’s Day gifts, 37% said cash is what they prefer most. Meanwhile, 27% would like to travel abroad, 19% want to travel in Taiwan, 15% want a smartphone and 15% would like to take a family portrait.
