Economics minister resigns
I quit.

Economics Minister Chang Chia-juch tendered his resignation Thursday over the deadly propylene-fueled explosions that rocked the southern city of Kaohsiung on July 31, killing 30 people and injuring more than 300. Chang's announcement came right after four Kaohsiung City Government officials offered to resign.

The explosions were thought to be caused by a petrochemical leak in underground pipelines. As the economics ministry is responsible for overseeing the petrochemical industry, the ministry has come under harsh criticism in the past few days.

Their resignations have yet to be approved.
