The government statistics office says food price inflation in July is likely to remain above 3%.

The office made the comments on Sunday, ahead of its scheduled announcement of consumer price index (CPI) growth for July.

Taiwan’s CPI rose 1.64% in June from a year earlier, and the prices of eating out went up 3.96%, reaching its highest point in 65 months.

The government statistics office said prices have been rising moderately since March. But it also said that in the short term, food prices are unlikely to stabilize.
