Scottish authorities agree to extradite British citizen to Taiwan
To be extradited

The Ministry of Justice says a British fugitive will be extradited to Taiwan to serve a jail sentence.

The ministry made the announcement late on Friday, after the Scottish secretary of justice upheld a decision by the Edinburgh Sheriff Court to extradite Zain Dean to Taiwan.

Zain Dean is a British national who fled Taiwan using a friend’s passport in 2012. That’s shortly before he was due to begin serving a four-year prison term. He was convicted of killing a newspaper deliveryman while driving drunk.

The Edinburgh Sheriff Court made its extradition ruling in June that Dean should be extradited to Taiwan to serve his sentence.
