Culture ministry signs MOU for cultural exchanges in US
Spotlight on culture

Taiwan and the Asia Society have signed a memorandum of understanding for a year of cultural exchanges in Texas. The Taiwan Academy signed the memorandum on behalf of the Ministry of Culture and the Asia Society in Houston.

The agreement is part of the Spotlight on Taiwan Culture Plan and includes 3 programs to promote Taiwan’s food, music and art performances in Texas. The plan is sponsored by the Ruentex Group. From 2013 to 2016, they are providing US$1million to have the culture ministry promote Taiwan’s culture around the world

The Asia Society is a non-profit organization that promotes Asian culture. It has centers in Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington DC and offices in Hong Kong, Malawi, Mumbai, Seoul, Shanghai and Sydney.

The director of the Asia Society center in Houston, Bonna Kol, said that the plan will be a great way to help people in nearby states to have an opportunity to know Taiwan better. She also said the upcoming programs will be a good foundation for future cooperation.
