NCCU President Se-hwa Wu appointed as education minister
The incoming education minister

National Chengchi University President Wu Se-hwa has been appointed as education minister. The Cabinet made the announcement on Tuesday.

The announcement said Wu was appointed because of his extensive experience in research, administration and education.

Wu will be replacing former Education Minister Chiang Wei-ling who stepped down over a research paper scandal in mid-July.

Wu said he decided to take the position after much consideration.

“Education is my mission," said Wu.

"If I am able to make some contribution in my different positions and do more for [Taiwan’s] education, I will try to take this opportunity to do so. Our educational [policies] have the right direction though perhaps they are not comprehensively designed in terms of implementation. I think my experience in administration and management should be able to make some contribution to that."

Wu received his Ph.D in management from National Chengchi University. He was the director of the university’s Innovation Incubator Center as well as the dean of its College of Commerce.
