An annual biotechnology fair in Taiwan opened on Thursday at Taipei’s Nangang Exhibition Center. The 2014 BioTaiwan has more than 1,200 booths representing 12 countries around the world.
Vice President Wu Den-yih was at the opening ceremony. Wu said that Taiwan’s biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries have made a mark in the global arena with a value of more than NT$900 billion (US$30 billion). He said Taiwan’s biotech industry could become the next one trillion dollar industry.
The exhibition will run until Sunday.
