The economics ministry has released figures showing that the industrial production index rose further in June.
The industrial production index rose by 8.63% to hit 107.93. The index has continued to rise over the past five months. The economics ministry says that production of semiconductors, LEDs, computers and computer parts, optics, steel, machinery, and automobiles all grew.
Increased production was matched by increased revenue. The wholesale trade netted close to US$29 billion in June. That puts the annual growth rate for the wholesale industry at 4.1%, and is a continuation of a 10-month streak of growth in the industry.
Retailers also did well in June, riding World Cup fever and an increased demand for cars. Gains reached around US$11 billion, putting the annual growth rate for the retail trade at 5.5%.
