Premier: Youth Advisory Board a bridge between government and young people
Listening to the voices of the next generation

Premier Jiang Yi-huah is calling on members of the Youth Advisory Board to help bridge the gap between the government and young people. Jiang was speaking Tuesday at the board’s first meeting.

"While you are not civil servants, you can help the government hear from more voices and understand urgent needs," he said. "Likewise, you can help more young people understand the government’s responses, steps and ideas. By doing so, more opinions can be heard. That’s our expectation.”

The premier said the government decided to set up the Youth Advisory Board to learn more from netizens and those who have graduated from college over the past decade.

The advisory body has 25 members from all walks of life. They are mostly concerned about youth employment, building an innovative job market and educational issues.

Jiang said the government wants to invite more young people to participate in the decision-making process, which he called an opportunity to change Taiwan’s system of governance.
