On this day in 1706, The Acts of Union 1707 were agreed upon by commissioners from the Kingdom of England and the Kingdom of Scotland, which, when passed by each countries' Parliaments, led to the creation of the Kingdom of Great Britain. 
 
On this day in 1942, the systematic deportation of Jews from the Warsaw Ghetto began. 

On this day in 1999, President Bill Clinton reiterated that the United States supports a one-China policy, dialogue between Taipei and Beijing, and a peaceful resolution to Taiwan-mainland China differences.

On this day in 2013: Prince George of Cambridge was born. He is the son of Prince William and his wife Catherine and the grandchild of Charles, Prince of Wales. After his grandfather and father, the new-born prince is third in line to succeed his great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
