Taiwanese-American NBA star Jeremy Lin has attended a charity basketball camp in Taiwan to play the sport and share his experiences with local children.
Lin was recently traded by the Houston Rockets to the Los Angeles Lakers. On Sunday he spent an hour as a special coach for 30 students in the northern Taoyuan County, including young players who won Taiwan’s Youth Basketball Championship last year.
The event opened with a dance performance by aboriginal children. Lin participated in the dance and answered questions from the children about his experiences in the NBA.
In November 2010, Jeremy Lin became the first person of Taiwanese descent, and one of the only Harvard graduates to play for the NBA. He soared to stardom in 2011 when his moves on the court triggered a winning streak with the New York Knicks and led to a global phenomenon known as “Linsanity”.
