New representative to South Korea to stress economic cooperation
Taking off to Korea

Taiwan’s new representative to South Korea, former Deputy Foreign Minister Joseph Shih, has promised to work towards strengthening bilateral economic ties.

Shih was speaking at an event held by the foreign ministry on Tuesday. Shih said that Taiwan and South Korea have long-standing ties. He said that economic and cultural exchanges between the two countries have expanded.

Shih said that he will work to promote economic ties between Taiwan and South Korea once he arrives in his new position. He said he will advocate for a bilateral economic cooperation agreement with South Korea. He also said that he will cooperate with South Korea on efforts to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Comprehensive Regional Economic Partnership, two proposed multilateral free trade agreements.
