The culture ministry invited heritage consultants from Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Macau to visit Chiayi City’s Chenghuang Temple on Tuesday.
The temple is one of the three main historical temples from the Qing Dynasty period in Taiwan.
An expert in international cultural relics, Yen Ya-ning said that the overseas heritage consultants made a special trip to the temple after hearing that it was an important cultural property.
Australian heritage specialist Duncan Marshall marveled at the architecture of the temple and said that it is still very culturally significant.
The specialists’ trip also included a visit to the Ali Mountain Railway.
