Government to industrialize Taiwan’s agricultural technology

The government is pushing for the industrialization of Taiwan’s agricultural technology so that the agricultural industry can go global.

Taiwan is renowned for its agricultural technologies in growing orchids and tropical fruits, grouper farming and the farming of shrimp and aquarium fish. However, the market for the industry has not been big enough due to its past emphasis on planting and cultivation.

To assist farmers in expanding their customer base and upgrading the agricultural industry, the government has chosen to focus on ten agricultural technologies with special potential. These include animal vaccines, biological pesticides, aquarium fish-related products, pet food, and new varieties of plants and saplings.

The industrialization of agricultural technology is a top priority for the expansion project of the Pingtung Agriculture Biotechnology Park in southern Taiwan. The government is also planning to include the project in Free Economic Pilot Zones in the future.
