Government is cautious about cross-strait exchanges: Ma
President Ma Ying-jeou

President Ma Ying-jeou has said that the Taiwanese government is very cautious about conducting cross-strait exchanges.

His comment on Wednesday was in response to a local magazine report quoting former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as expressing concern that increasing exchanges across the Taiwan Strait could cost Taiwan its independence.

President Ma said that his administration has been very careful in dealing with cross-strait exchanges. He said that according to several surveys by the Mainland Affairs Council, most people in Taiwan think that the pace of cross-strait exchanges is “just right.”
