President Ma Ying-jeou says that technology used to store energy is crucial to developing renewable energy. He was speaking Tuesday during his meeting with the head of Japan’s NEC, a multinational provider of IT services and products.
Ma told NEC’s President Endo Nobuhiro, that the government is actively working on developing renewable energy, including wind power and photovoltaics. However, Ma said that both Taiwan and Japan need the technology to store green energy in order to make it more effective.
“Stored energy technology is of vital importance to your country and Taiwan even if [we have] a large amount of renewable energy. That’s because without that technology, our use of renewable energy will be quite limited,” said Ma.
Ma said he hopes that the two sides can cooperate in the areas of telecommunications and stored energy technology.
