An Indonesian boat may have taken a Taiwanese fishing vessel hostage. That was the word from the Indonesian National Search and Rescue Center on Thursday night.
The center said Pingtung Donggang Fishing Boat No.333 is now making its way to the West Papua’s port of Sorong. Indonesian police and immigration officials are waiting for it at the port.
The Taiwanese ship owner said on Thursday that he tried to call the captain on Thursday but no one answered. Other boats in the area also said they were not able to contact the captain. Indonesian officials say they will not be able to confirm the safety of the captain and crew until they come into harbor.
