Taiwan banks to issue dual currency credit cards in 2015

The Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) announced Friday that Taiwanese banks will be able to issue dual currency credit cards at the beginning of 2015. The FSC said that many banks have expressed interest in issuing dual currency credit cards.

Banks and cardholders will sign an agreement setting a fixed conversion rate between Taiwan dollars and a foreign currency. This rate will then apply to all charges made abroad. The cards will allow frequent travelers to use their credit cards overseas without worrying about daily fluctuations in the exchange rate.

Banks in Taiwan are hoping to have dual currency credit cards for US dollars, Japanese yen, and Euros available for customers by early next year.
