Taiwanese tennis player Ma Yi-chi has advanced to the final of the girls doubles at the Thamrin Cup International Junior Championships in Jakarta, securing a chance to compete for the top prize.
On Friday the third-seeded Ma and Miyo Kobayashi of Japan edged past Tang Wei of Taiwan and Lo Yan Yin of Hong Kong in their semifinal encounter.
Ma and Kobayashi are set to face the second seeds Karman Karu Thandi of India and Rifanty Kahfiani of Indonesia in Saturday’s final.
In the boys singles, 11th-seeded Chen Tin, a high school student from southern Taiwan, advanced to the semifinals with a win over the top seed, Jack Wong of Hong Kong.
Two Taiwanese players reached the girls singles’ semifinals, after unseeded Chen Yue-lin defeated Fitriani Sabatini of Indonesia and 8th-seeded Lee Yang topped 3rd-seeded Mihika Yadav of India.
