Culture minister arrives in Berlin
Culture minister Lung Yingtai

Culture minister Lung Yingtai has arrived in Berlin after a three-day visit to Switzerland. Lung is on a 10-day trip to Switzerland and Germany that aims to deepen the cultural ties between Taiwan and the two European countries.

Lung signed an agreement with the Switzerland-based European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) last Friday. The agreement allows Taiwanese artists to join a one-month research program and receive stipends to spend a month in residency at CERN, which operates the world's largest particle physics laboratory.

While in Berlin, the culture minister will sign an agreement with a literature house in the city to help Taiwanese writers access the German book market. She will also meet with local cultural and arts representatives including the manager of the Berlin Opera Foundation to discuss cooperation plans.

The minister is expected to return to Taiwan on June 14.
