The foreign ministry announced Monday that Burkina Faso’s foreign minister Yipene Djibrill Bassole has accepted an invitation to visit Taiwan.
Bassole is leading a delegation to Taiwan. He arrived on Sunday and will stay in Taiwan through Friday.
While in Taiwan, Bassole will co-host the 10th session of the Taiwan-Burkina Faso mixed committee alongside foreign minister David Lin. The committee plans to set goals for bilateral cooperation in the period from 2015 to 2016. During his stay in Taiwan, Bassole will also meet with President Ma Ying-jeou.
The timing of Bassole’s visit to Taiwan is significant, as 2014 marks the 20th anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Taiwan and Burkina Faso.
