KMT rebuts report of replacing Taichung, Taoyuan mayor candidates
There's no such thing!

The ruling Kuomintang (KMT) has dismissed a report that it would seek to replace the incumbent heads of Taoyuan County and Taichung City with new candidates ahead of year-end local elections.

On Sunday KMT spokesman Chen I-hsin said in a statement that the speculation is unfounded and absolutely untrue.

The media report said that the KMT wants to drop incumbent Taoyuan Commissioner Wu Chih-yang, who is dealing with the fallout of a corruption scandal centered on his deputy, and current Taichung Mayor Jason Hu, who is suffering from low public support.

The KMT spokesman said the party will give its full support to all of its candidates in the local elections at the end of November.
