Visitors to Taiwan and Singapore may soon only need one card to travel on public transportation and make other purchases in the two countries.
Taiwan’s EasyCard Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding with Singapore’s EZ-Link on Monday morning to work together on creating a joint card.
The Cross Border Combi Card, as it’s being called, would be able to separately store both Singapore and Taiwanese currencies. While there is no time line for creating such a card, EZ-Link says it hopes the card could be ready for use within a year.
Once ready, the card could be used not only for public transportation in the two countries, but also for purchases at convenience stores, and to buy admission tickets for events.
