Premier Jiang Yi-hua is in El Salvador for the inauguration of President-elect Salvador Sanchez Ceren on Sunday… The two met on Saturday, shortly after the premier’s arrival in the Central American country. They spoke of the good relationship between the two countries and their hopes for even better ties in the future.
This is Jiang’s first overseas trip since assuming the premiership in February, 2013. Already he and his wife have paid a visit to the current First Lady Vanda Pignato. They invited her to visit Taiwan after her husband leaves office on Sunday.
Later on Saturday, Jiang met with Vice President-elect Oscar Ortiz, who introduced him to several incoming Cabinet members. Ortiz said that the new administration is determined to strengthen diplomatic ties with Taiwan in the future.
Premier Jiang is set to fly back to Taiwan following a state banquet on Sunday at noon. The return trip will include a stopover in Los Angeles, where he is scheduled to participate in a number of meetings.
