Premier pushes for more meaningful international participation
Premier Jing Yi-huah

Premier Jiang Yi-huah says that President Ma Ying-jeou’s policy of viable diplomacy has achieved many concrete results over the past 6 years. Jiang was speaking at a Cabinet meeting on Thursday.

The premier said that Taiwan has signed economic cooperation agreements with New Zealand and Singapore. He added that both of these trade pacts have created favorable conditions for Taiwan to participate in the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). Jiang said he has instructed the foreign ministry and the economics ministry to keep working on expanding Taiwan’s international profile.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet’s spokesperson said that with cross-strait relations warming up, Taiwan has been able to do more in the international community. The foreign ministry also said it will help Taiwan’s young people to exert soft power on the world stage.
