Vietnamese delegation to come to Taiwan to discuss compensation
Heavy losses

A Vietnamese government delegation will arrive in Taiwan towards the end of the month to discuss issues of compensation for Taiwanese businesses affected by anti-China riots there.

Vietnamese angered by a Chinese oil-drilling venture in a disputed area of the South China Sea staged violent protests last week. The riots damaged factories considered "Chinese", including those owned by Taiwanese firms.

Economics Minister Chang Chia-juch said on Thursday that the Vietnamese government has drafted measures to help Taiwanese businesses in Vietnam resume operations. But he said the measures are still lacking in details. He also said Vietnam will send a high-ranking government delegation to Taiwan to discuss how to compensate Taiwanese companies.
