The newly restored Taiwanese martial arts film directed by King Hu has been chosen to feature in this year's Cannes Classics.

This section of the Cannes Film Festival presents masterpieces in restored prints. A total of 22 features were selected for this year’s Cannes Classics. One of the features, "Dragon Inn" from Taiwan, was released in 1967. It broke box office records at the time and redefined the martial arts genre.

The restored film was screened in Cannes Friday. The lead actor of "Dragon Inn", Shi Jun, who is now 80, also attended the screening. He said he was honored to be invited by the organizer of the Cannes Film Festival to present the film of his mentor King Hu.

Other films selected for Cannes Classics this year include Sergio Leone's "A Fistful of Dollars", Wim Wenders' "Paris Texas", Nagisa Oshima's "Cruel Story of Youth", and François Truffaut's "The Last Metro".
