Taiwan delegation attends WHA in Geneva

Health and Welfare Minister Chiang Been-huang is leading a delegation to attend the 67th session of the World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva.

This is the seventh year that Taiwan has been invited to attend the annual event though Taiwan is not a member of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The event that kicked off Monday is focused on the prevention of contagious diseases and the Ebola crisis that struck West Africa last year.

Speaking in Geneva, Chiang said Taiwan wants to join more international public health organizations and is willing to offer assistance to help contain an epidemic outbreak.

Taiwan’s bid has won support from the United States.

Chiang is expected to share Taiwan’s experiences with the global community on Wednesday.
