Three approaching weather fronts will begin affecting Taiwan from Sunday afternoon and are likely to bring torrential rain to parts of the country by Wednesday. That was the word from the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) on Sunday.

The weather systems, approaching from the northeast, will bring scattered showers to the eastern, northeastern and mountainous regions of the country, beginning Sunday afternoon.

As the weather fronts converge and move closer to Taiwan, scattered thunderstorms can be expected Tuesday in northern and southern Taiwan and in mountainous areas, the CWB said.

The effects of the weather systems will intensify on Wednesday, bringing heavy to torrential rain throughout the country.
