Taiwanese architect Joshua Pan has received an international architecture award in New York for his “Ring of Celestial Bliss”. The work is a massive environmentally friendly lantern his company designed for Taiwan-based Delta Electronics Inc.
Pan received the award on Thursday. His firm—J.J. Pan and Partners—designed the lantern for display at the 2013 Taiwan Lantern Festival. The lantern was the jury selection and the popular choice winner in the Commercial Pop-ups & Temporary Buildings category at the 2015 A+Awards. The awards are organized by the New York-based professional architecture website Architizer.
Pan’s 70-meter-wide circular lantern consists of a recyclable steel structure and bamboo poles. It showcases moving images produced by LED lighting and projection technology. The ring is built using only reusable materials.
