Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Chairwoman Tsai Ing-wen is scheduled to visit the United States on May 29th. That’s according to an announcement made by the DPP on Friday.
During the trip, the opposition leader will exchange views with government officials and lawmakers. Tsai will also deliver a speech in Washington at the invitation of the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
The DPP said Tsai will also meet with members of the overseas Taiwanese community while touring six major US cities. In addition to Washington, DC, she will also visit Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Houston and San Francisco.
Tsai is the DPP’s presidential candidate in the 2016 presidential elections. She will return to Taiwan on June 9th.
