Hope of finding survivors in Nepal was slim, as the rescue efforts entered the tenth day on Monday. Rescue workers were continuing to pick through the rubble caused by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake which struck Nepal on April 25.
The death toll has climbed to over 7,000, with more than 14,000 injured.
Taiwan’s foreign ministry says that as of Monday morning, a total of 250 Taiwanese people who were in Nepal at the time of the quake are confirmed safe. They say that there is still one person who is missing. Officials say that with communication lines down, they are doing all they can to find alternative ways of contacting the missing person.
Meanwhile, in one of the few positive stories coming out of Nepal in recent days, a Taiwanese doctor worked with a local counterpart to help a woman give birth to twins on Saturday.
The Taiwanese doctor was one of nine doctors from the Tzu Chi foundation, who have seen over 800 patients since Friday.
