Rescue workers are continuing to deal with the aftermath of a magnitude 7.8 earthquake which struck Nepal over a week ago. The death toll has climbed to over 7,000, with more than 14,000 injured.
With the rescue efforts entering the ninth day, authorities say the chance of finding more survivors is slim.
Taiwan’s foreign ministry says that as of Sunday morning, a total of 250 Taiwanese people who were in Nepal at the time of the quake are confirmed safe. They say that there is still one person who is missing. Officials say that with communication lines down, they are doing all they can to find alternative ways of contacting the missing person.
Meanwhile, two more medical and rescue teams have arrived in Nepal from Taiwan, with a third group slated to arrive later on Sunday, joining more than half a dozen other aid groups from Taiwan who are already on the ground providing assistance.
