A group of Taiwan relief workers has arrived in Nepal to begin its post-quake relief mission. The 37-member group arrived in Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, Wednesday morning.
The aid group consists of aid workers and medical professionals from Taiwan's Red Cross, International Search and Rescue Operations Taiwan, the Buddha's Light International Association (BLIA) and Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. It will meet with other medical workers and volunteers before starting its relief mission.
Relief workers from Taiwan brought one ton of medical supplies and set up medical treatment stations Wednesday morning. They were able to help about 300 people on their first day there.
Nepal has confirmed that at least 4,349 Nepalese lost their lives in the 7.8-magnitude earthquake on April 25. In addition, 8,700 people were injured, and hundreds remain unaccounted for.
