The Republic of China on Taiwan’s passports are ranked 28th in the Passport Index, indicating a relatively high level of travel freedom for its citizens.
The index was created by financial advisory firm Arton Capital and scores passports around the world based on the number of countries their holders can visit without a visa or by simply obtaining a visa on arrival.
Taiwanese passport holders can visit 109 countries without having to obtain a visa in advance, earning the passport the 28th place.
The passports of the United States and the United Kingdom had the highest power rankings, giving their holders visa-free access to 147 countries. The passports of France, South Korea, and Germany ranked second, providing visa-free access to 145 countries, followed by Italy and Sweden in third (144 countries), Denmark, Singapore, Finland, Japan, Luxembourg and the Netherlands in fourth (143 countries), and Switzerland in fifth (142 countries).
