Messages of support and sympathy for Taipei’s police force have poured in after a crowd besieged a police station Friday night.
A Facebook page has been set up to back the police, collecting over 140,000 “likes” in a matter of hours. The Facebook page expressed support for the head of the Zhongzheng First Police Precinct in Taipei, Fang Yang-ning.
Protestors on Friday demanded Fang to step down. They accused him of rejecting an application by the Alliance of Referendum for Taiwan to continue its years-long sit-in outside the legislature.
In addition to leaving messages of encouragement on the Facebook page, some people also sent flowers to the precinct.
