Taiwan has been invited to participate in the World Health Assembly (WHA) in May as an observer. The Ministry of Health and Welfare said that they received the invitation from World Health Organization (WHO) Director General Margaret Chan on Monday.
Health Minister Chiu Wen-ta will bring a delegation of 30 people to the global meeting. The focus of this year’s assembly is the link between climate and health. Chiu will share Taiwan’s experience in disaster prevention and rescue.
In addition to speaking at the WHA, Chiu will also work to increase medical exchanges with WHO members and gain support for WHO membership. The 67th session of the WHA will convene from May 19 to 24 in Geneva.
