The highly anticipated Kaohsiung French Festival 2025 is returning to Kaohsiung's Pier-2 Art Center from May 23 to 25, bringing authentic French culture to southern Taiwan. Following last year's success, attracting 110,000 visitors in just three days, this year's festival promises an even bigger celebration of French arts, cuisine, and seaside lifestyle.

Visitors can immerse themselves in a vibrant French market, watch cooking demonstrations, and enjoy pop-up restaurants created by renowned French chefs. Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) says this year's event will include ocean-themed VR films, making it “more interesting and fun,” while the French Office Director in Taiwan Franck Paris (龍燁) emphasized the delicious French food on offer.

There’s also petanque (French bowling), cultural lectures, and immersive art installations. The event's visual designer, Christopher Boyd, who has been an artist-in-residence at Pier-2, has also created giant comic-style illustrations capturing Kaohsiung's essence, reflecting his observations of the city's diverse landscape.

This May, people don’t need to fly to France to experience its culture; they can enjoy the French atmosphere right in Kaohsiung.
