Former President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) will embark on a European trip to Lithuania and Denmark on Friday, according to her office spokesperson, Tsai Shu-ching (蔡舒景). The visit aims to strengthen ties with European democracies and raise awareness about Taiwan.
During her stay in Lithuania, Tsai will deliver a speech at Vilnius University and meet with former Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė. Tsai hopes this visit will further develop a resilient democratic and economic partnership between the two countries, as Lithuania is a significant like-minded partner for Taiwan in Europe.
Following her Lithuanian engagements, Tsai will travel to Copenhagen, Denmark. She will attend the 8th Copenhagen Democracy Summit at the invitation of the Alliance of Democracies Foundation, where she will deliver a keynote speech to reaffirm Taiwan's commitment to cooperating with democratic allies to ensure regional security and stability.
The Copenhagen Democracy Summit, scheduled on May 13-14, will bring together political leaders from democratic nations, technology sector executives, think tanks, civil society organizations, and Hong Kong pro-democracy activists to collectively defend democratic values and freedom.
