Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) revealed that a channel for negotiations regarding the United States’ reciprocal tariffs has been established, and that a Taiwanese representative has been in close communication with the U.S. government when speaking to the Legislature’s Foreign Affairs and National Defense Committee this Monday.

Lin said Taiwan’s representative to the U.S., Ambassador Alexander Yui (俞大㵢), has been actively consulting the U.S. State Department and U.S. Trade Representative regarding negotiations, which have been progressing smoothly. The negotiations are one part of a large five-part response strategy proposed by Taiwan’s government.

Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon visited Taiwan on Saturday, a visit that was primarily about economic and trade issues, according to Lin, who also said that related visits and tours will facilitate exchanges and cooperation.

Currently, 24 U.S. state-level organizations have established offices in Taiwan, and Taiwan continues to actively strengthen interactions with U.S. states, including the American Institute in Taiwan’s SelectUSA Investment Summits scheduled for this year.
