Cherry trees burst into bloom across Taiwan this February. The brilliant pink blossoms are drawing large crowds of workers, students, families and photographers outdoors on the weekends to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
In Taipei, the trees are spread across various parks, including Yangmingshan, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and LOHAS, which stands for ‘lifestyles of health and sustainability’. Outside Taipei, the trees grace the slopes of many locations, including Yilan, Alishan, Wuling Farm and Nantou.
The popular blossoms include many different varieties such as Yaezakura and Oshima trees. Depending on the variety and altitude, they can be viewed until approximately the end of February and as late as March or April in mountainous areas.
