Kaohsiung’s Fo Guang Shan is putting on a spectacular show for this year's Lantern Festival.

Beams of light shoot out, illuminating the pagodas at Kaohsiung’s Fo Guang Shan as the base of its giant Buddha transforms into a glowing lotus throne. It’s a dazzling kick-off to this year's light show for Lantern Festival. With its theme of “Light Shines on the Universe,” the display features vibrant LED lights dancing to music, turning the scene into a sparkling spectacle against the black night sky.
A 16-meter lotus jewel takes center stage as the main lantern this year. With a diamond-cut base and a 4-meter-wide peace lantern glowing at its heart, it’s certainly the main attraction. Visitors can even scan a QR code to project their photos onto the main lantern, sending blessings to loved ones. There are also interactive lanterns to enjoy; touching the nearby golden spheres causes butterflies to light up in an immersive flower lantern experience.
Running until February 27, this year’s Lantern Festival is sure to draw crowds eager to enjoy the festive atmosphere.
