The Culture Ministry and the Foreign Ministry are looking into collaborating closely on cultural diplomacy in 2025. Culture Minister Li Yuan (李遠) and Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) met on Tuesday in their first-ever ministerial-level meeting to jointly discuss cooperating on cultural diplomacy.

During the meeting, both ministries discussed combining resources and focused on two major upcoming projects - the “Taiwan Cultural Year in Europe” and the Osaka World Expo. These initiatives aim to deepen Taiwan’s global presence and foster stronger international relationships.

Led by the Foreign Ministry, the “Taiwan Cultural Year in Europe,” will feature important exhibitions such as the “100 Objects, 100 Stories: Treasures from the National Palace Museum” which will tour the Czech Republic. The Culture Ministry will also participate in prominent European festivals like the Festival Off Avignon and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to further strengthen exchanges between Taiwan and European nations.

On the other hand, events at the Osaka World Expo organized by the Culture Ministry will showcase Taiwan’s cultural and artistic diversity, with themes like children’s futures, film, literature, and cultural technology. The Foreign Ministry will also launch a global online community campaign called “Searching for Taiwan” during the expo.

Both ministries commit to collaborate under the spirit of “every ministry is a cultural ministry” and “every ministry is a foreign ministry” to advance cultural diplomacy efforts.
