Taiwan Tourism Administration launched its international marketing campaign ‘Eastern Flow’ on Friday, showcasing the stunning beauty and cultural richness of the Hualien-Taitung region. The promotional video aims to revitalize tourism in the area, which demonstrated remarkable resilience during the recent Lunar New Year holiday despite last year’s earthquake.

Director-General Chou Yung-hui (周永暉) of the Tourism Administration has launched two travel routes: the “Southern Loop” for tourists arriving at Kaohsiung Airport, covering Kaohsiung, Pingtung, Taitung, and Hualien, and the “Northern Loop” for those landing at Taoyuan Airport, which includes Taipei, Yilan, and eastern coastal destinations.

The campaign features popular travel host Janet Hsieh as its English narrator, who expressed her deep affection for the region through a recorded message, even sharing her plans to potentially retire there. The promotional video emphasizes the concept of "flow," built around three main themes: Discover, Share, and Engage, highlighting various experiences from railway journeys to hot air balloon rides.

The region includes two national scenic areas and two national parks, offering attractions from mountain landscapes to seaside views. While domestic tourism is recovering, the administration seeks to attract more international visitors. However, discussions about cross-strait relations are pending due to changes in Chinese authorities.
