The Lunar New Year holidays hail spring and the hope of warmer weather. This year saw crowds gather in various locations around Taiwan to welcome the first cherry blossoms of 2025.
The third day of the Lunar New Year festivities saw many people out enjoying the flowers. This section of Pingjing Street Lane 42, known as the most beautiful cherry blossom road in Taiwan, was crowded starting early in the morning with both locals and tourists alike viewing and taking photos of the beautiful buds.
Several people said they traveled from other counties, saying that this particular view is worth the commute. Others came from nearby neighborhoods, happy to have a conveniently close location with good weather.
Many chose to go to Yangming Mountain, where the bloom of cherry blossoms kicked off the start of the YangMingShan Flower Festival. Other popular destinations include the Wuji Tianyuan Temple in Tamsui, the Three Gorges Sakura Forest in Sanxia, and the LOHAS Park in Neihu.
The peach-pink Yaezakura and light pink Showa cherry blossoms are plentiful in February, with March seeing the arrival of white and pink Yoshino cherry blossoms. Regardless of which location and flowers one views, the hope of spring is sure to bloom in one’s soul.
