The Central Weather Administration (CWA) forecasts another cold wave over the Lunar New Year holiday, warning the public to bundle up against windy and rainy conditions over the nine-day festivities.

From January 24 to 26, the northeast monsoon will bring high temperatures as warm as 20 degrees Celsius in the northern regions and above 20 degrees in central and south Taiwan. However, the weather is predicted to cool significantly on January 28, the eve of Lunar New Year, and will continue through to January 30. In addition to temperatures as low as 8 degrees Celsius, there is a chance of snowfall and icy roads in mountains above 2,000 meters.

The CWA reminds those traveling over the holidays to be especially careful while on the road. It also warns the public that since sea wind and waves are quite strong in the winter season, ocean viewers should be very mindful of their safety when visiting the beach or scenic points along the coast.
