In the small fishing village of Qingkunshen in Jiangjun District of Tainan City, the three local seafood specialties are back in season.

Dried shrimp, milkfish, and mullet roe are in high demand as the Lunar New Year season approaches. In Qingkunshen fishing village, some vendors are drying shrimp along the street. One shrimp vendor has been peeling shrimp since 7:30 in the morning. Even though the catch this year was smaller, the order volume is as high as ever.

Mullet roe is another famous local product. Vendors cover each piece with film before setting them out to dry in the sun. Many customers placed orders in advance, taking home a large box filled with dried shrimp and mullet roe.

Long pieces of milkfish, taken from the dorsal fin of the milkfish, are also included. The so-called three treasures of Qingkunshen are in high demand this time of year, so seafood lovers have to move fast if they want them on the table for their new year’s feast.
